We are inevitable. Boston reaching the finals in almost all sports (looking at you with disappointment Celtics) in one season is disgusting. Who gave us permission to be this good?
Ok, so now that my finals are over and I can actually write blogs again without stressing out over the fact that I should be studying, we get to focus on more important finals, finally.
I don’t even think I need to recap last series all that much because the fact of the matter is, the Bruins outplayed Carolina in nearly every game except game 3. Realistically, I thought this series was going to go 5 or 6 games after that dreadful 3rd game performance from everyone except Rask, but I was proved wrong, which shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone. Regardless, Bruins win in 4, sweeping Carolina who probably shouldn’t have made it to the Conference Finals anyway. As Ric Flair once said, WOOOOOO!
In approximately 9 days, the Bruins will take on either San Jose or St. Louis for the Stanley Cup. I have never been happier to type something up in my life. I essentially live for this team as anyone who reads these blogs knows.
Here’s the thing with these two teams: both of them are extreme choke artists. Like, it’s ridiculous that both of them are competing for the Western Conference title given their track records in the playoffs recently. And, honestly, I’m not worried about St. Louis in the slightest. San Jose, however, now that is a whole different ball game.
The Sharks are well known for getting far in the playoffs and completely blowing it, upsetting their fan base year in and year out because they just should’ve had it them. After this past off season, it was clear that the Sharks were poised to be the front-runners in the West. On paper, a roster of Erik Karlsson, Logan Couture, Jumbo Joe, Joe Pavelski, Brent Burns, Tomas Hertl, and Evander Kane sounds… well, to be blunt, pretty fucking deadly. However, an upside to this is that Martin Jones has been an absolute block of swiss cheese compared to the other remaining goaltenders in the playoffs.
Tuuks is currently posting a .942 save percentage with a 1.84 GAA in 17 games played, where he, obviously, has won 12/17 games played, making him not only the best remaining goaltender in the playoffs, but also the best goalie in the playoffs this year period. Blues’ rookie Jordan Binnington is a not-so-close second place remaining goalie, 12th overall in the playoffs, with a .908 save percentage and a 2.58 GAA. Finally, San Jose’s Martin Jones is the 15th overall goalie stats wise in the playoffs and 3rd place in remaining tendies, with a .905 save percentage and 2.84 GAA. It’s safe to say that the goaltending odds are in our favor, but we shall see.
I don’t think I can really wait 9 more days for the Cup Finals to start. Its killing me already. I’m not going to say anything else alluding to the Bruins finishing the job as our beloved Patriots put it, but lets just say this: #STANLEYCUPORBUST
Let’s go B’s baby. Until then, we’ll be talking Sharks/Blues for the remainder of the series.
