I’ve given up

I don’t think this is a front office problem anymore. I’m not saying Dombrowski is off the hook, but I’m sitting here just mulling over illogical reasons for why these games fall so quickly off the tracks.

I’ve come to the conclusion that the pitchers are at odds with the hitters. It may sound tinfoil hat crazy, but this didn’t spawn from a Facebook group looking to trespass on the US military’s most non-secretive base (if the Gubment wanted to have a top secret base where they kept aliens there would be no way we would even know that base exists).

Here’s what happened though. My guess is that Nunez told a pretty bad “Yo-Mama” joke to someone in the bullpen. My guess is the targeted butt of the joke was Thornburg. No one likes that guy, Nunez is trying out new material, easy laugh. I get it Noontime. But this one went too far; somewhere along the lines of…

“Yo Mama so fat Thanos had to clap”

Personally, that’s a great line. Relevant at the time he would have told this at the start of the season. Avengers just came out. It’s on everyone’s mind. Again everyone hates Thornburg so he’s the perfect target.

But, Thornburg coming off another injury might have been over sensitive. He tosses a ball of paper, obviously low velocity and misses his target of Nunes. Tempers flare.

Pitchers always back their kind. They’re a different breed and are extremely territorial. I don’t make these rules it’s just biology, and biology is science. So the pitcher vow to avenge their fallen brother. How? Throw the team into total chaos by making sure the team loses until Nunes apologizes.

Now at this time it’s unclear if the apology ever occurred. I’m sure Nunez tried reaching out, but like Thornburg’s ligaments, they just weren’t connecting.

The front office finally had enough and dropped Thornburg hoping it’d squash the civil war. It didn’t. As I mentioned pitchers are wackos (no offense Murph but any of our readers picked up on the fact you’re a pitcher awhile ago), and so they continued to wage war. This prompted the team to drop Nunes the other day in hopes that having neither of the instigators around would ultimately be the Treaty of Versailles this team needs so badly.

Welp. Just like the ToV it’s done absolutely nothing. Cashner stinks it up as a new soldier in the never ending war of attrition with 5ER through 5 innings.
