Terry Francona is on record as saying this should have been the best Red Sox team ever put together. I mean at the beginning of the season your rotation was made up of Lester, Wake, Dice K, Beckett, and Clay. That’s legendary stuff right there, not to mention Bartolo was wedged into the pitching unit. So for this team to do as poorly as it did is a shame. And by poorly I mean finish second in the AL East to the AL Champions, Tampa Bay, to only continue on to finish second in the AL playoff picture yet again to Tampa.
At the very least we got this pretty thrilling ending to a Division Series. Shouts out Jed.
