Can you believe these players!?!? No not the ones in the MLBPA. These minor leaguers!
I haven’t heard one of them support the owners yet, not one. After all that these owners have done for the minor leaguers, such as providing boarding for these guys making far less than a living wage as a professional athlete, they should be grateful! These guys have an opportunity to make more than the free intern labor that makes up team personnel, all so they can build a case as to why they should make the league minimum while leading the Majors in home runs.
That’s generosity by the owners’ in the highest form. Then comes this offseason of work force disempowerment and what do these titans of industry – and the Rickets – get in return? Zero tweets of support from these three job having leaches.
That’s why I was elated to see the Billionaires take back control of the workforce so they could help them.
Right now, teams are allowed up to 180 minor league ball players but are also allowed up to 190 – makes perfect sense. There is also no bear minimum team’s must carry, which contributes to some teams carrying less than 150 players in their minor league systems. This very fake guideline is called the Domestic Reserve List and only proves that owners have the ultimate power to do whatever the hell they want.
If my very relatable friends have their way, they will be able to trim down systems by placing a 150 cap at some point in the future. According to Passan’s, article there is no desire to do this by next season, however, owners would like the flexibility to do so in the future.
I can assure you that ticket prices and concessions will continue to go up, real estate around major league parks will continue to rise, and less baseball will be accessible to the public as minor league teams become obsolete without talent to display if this deal were to happen. But, Rob and Co. will be able to save some more green for themselves which is always a lovely thought that helps me sleep at night. So I say fire them all and save all that money you’re already withholding from these young ballplayers.
